Tom Bator is a partner of Pratt, Bator & Popov, LLP.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).  A member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bars, Tom has served as a co-chair of the Boston Bar Association Estate Planning Committee and chair of the BBA Trusts and Estates Section New Developments Committee.  He is a member of the Boston Probate and Estate Planning Forum, and has been the Secretary for the Massachusetts Prudent Investor Act committee and the Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code committee.  Tom has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America.

Prior to joining Pratt, Bator & Popov, LLP, Tom practiced law at Palmer & Dodge in Boston and Perkins Coie in Seattle.

Tom is a partner of Nichols & Pratt, LLP, a Boston private trustee office, and its affiliated investment advisory firm, Nichols & Pratt Advisers, LLP.  

Tom has obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.  Tom was one of three elected Commissioners of Trust Funds for the Town of Weston for 15 years.

Tom graduated from Harvard College, magna cum laude in History and from the University of Chicago Law School.

Tom was a member of the Shady Hill School Development Committee from 2007 to 2010.

Tom grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Tom and his wife have three children.  Tom was an active soccer coach and plays on an over-60 town team.  Tom is the past President of the Weston Soccer Club, on whose Board he served for many years.  Tom is the author of Notes From The Has-Been: A Collection of Weekly Soccer Thoughts (2012).  Tom was a member of the 1983 National Champion Harvard Squash team.
